ID 33
Name blh1 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (2)
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200055
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Dominant Blh1 plants have pale green midveins and base in upper leaves. In Blh1,
bleaching of the midvein regions on lower third of leaf beginning with the leaf
at the ear node and progressing up the plant; the top leaf may have mutant
expression on the whole leaf. At time of first expression (just before tassel
emergence) bleaching is to yellow green with little effect on plant vigor but
near maturity mutant areas bleach to almost white. By the time of full shedding,
mutants are slower and some do not produce silks but shed pollen normally.
Genetic 2005 1 coordinates determined from these recombination and map data:
(blh1 -22- T1-9c wx1); (blh1 -42- T1-9(4995) wx1); see MaizeGDB ID:60810; 60811.
This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was
displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
