ID 32
Name as1 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (1) asynaptic1
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200037
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Synaptic failure in male and female. Variable synaptic failure at pachytene,
univalents at pachytene and other prophase I stages. Variable sterility.
Synaptic defect. Lack of synapsis at early pachytene correlates with later
defects. No indication of chiasma failure following crossing over. No indication
of abnormal desynapsis following initial synapsis. Variable pollen sterility.
Classification is excellent in pachytene aceto-carmine smears (M. Maguire).
Genetic 2005 1 coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: p1
-30- as1 -25- br1; (as1 -5- ms14); TB-1Sb as1; see MaizeGDB ID:60012; 60198;
304695. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map
position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
