ID 28
Name ad1 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (1) adherent1
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200013
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Seedling leaves, tassel branches, and occasionally top leaves adhere. In extreme
cases, seedling lethality is common unless the adhering young leaves are
released. Such plants then grow somewhat normally until flowering, at which time
the upper parts of the plant appear stuck together thus trapping the ear and
tassel. The ear, main stalk and tassel may be twisted and compressed. The glumes
of the tassel are reduced in length, resembling ear glumes; in some cases, the
immature anthers protrude from the florets. Some mature plants may have a
twisted, contorted stalk. Genetic 2005 1 coordinates determined from these
recombination and map data: an1 -4- ad1; br1 -4.3- f1 -12.4- ad1; see MaizeGDB
ID:84989; 60027. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the
map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
