Description Dominant Sdw1 plants have shortened internodes, erect leaves and tassel
branches. Short plant 1/2 to 2/3 normal height, short erect leaves and tassel
branches. Leaf tips wilt under stress. Homozygotes are weaker and have adherent
and/or rolled leaves. Genetic 2005 8 coordinates determined from these
recombination and map data: bif1 -20- sdw1; (sdw1 -0- umc89a) -4- umc30a
[conflicting data]; see MaizeGDB ID:935668; 934707. This gene was originally
curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on the maize
