GRAMENE GENEGR:0200123
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Collapsed endosperm; lethal; cultured embryos green. Large, opaque, variably
collapsed, sometimes discolored, nonviable kernel. Endosperm of porous floury
starch covered with a thin outer layer of corneous starch. Embryos, varying in
size and development, range from degenerate/dry (germless) to near-normal with
varyingly degenerate primordia and abnormal (thin, wrinkled or distorted)
scutella. Mature embryos lethal. Cultured immature embryos produce light green
defective seedlings. Genetic 2005 8 coordinates determined from these
recombination and map data: TB-8Lc(8) dek20; see MaizeGDB ID:105601. This gene
was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed
on the maize bins map if feasible.
