GRAMENE GENEGR:0200478
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Sun-exposed leaves greyish-waxy. Top surface of upper leaves develops a greyish
waxy appearance as plant nears flowering, while the underside remains bright
green. When the leaf is turned over and held in position for 48 hr the underside
develops the mutant phenotype. Surfaces at right angles to the sun are most
extreme. Resembles bu1 (Galinat et al. 1978 MNL52:58) and waxy leaf (D. Duvick
unpublished) or bleached leaf tip (Neuffer et al. 1968 Mutants of Maize).
Genetic 2005 6 coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: TB-
6L sbd1; see MaizeGDB ID:935813. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB
Database and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
