ID 1725
Name pt1 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (1) polytypic ear1
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200426
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Dominant Pt1 plants have proliferation of irregular growth on ear and tassel.
Ears from heterozygous plants typically show a proliferation of pistillate
tissue from the secondary floret. Ears from Pt1/Pt1 plants may have a
proliferation of the pistillate tissue from both florets, along with elongation
of the main axis of the ear with all degrees of developmental inhibition of
alicole meristems. The development of staminate flowers may or may not be
affected. (O. Nelson). Genetic 2005 6 coordinates determined from these
recombination and map data: (sm1 -4- pt1); see MaizeGDB ID:935466. This gene was
originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on
the maize bins map if feasible.
