GRAMENE GENEGR:0200207
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Cytosolic, C subunit; coding region has homology to gpc1, unique 3' untranslated
region; constitutive expression; genomic and cDNA clones, SSR umc1018. Encodes
NAD+ dependent cytosolic enzyme (GAPC2; E.C. 1.2.1.12). Active as a tetramer.
Intra/interlocus hybrid tetramers occur (see also Gpc1, Gpc3, Gpc4, Russell and
Sachs 1991 Molec Gen Genet 229:219). Involved in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis.
Present at high levels in all organs examined (Russell and Sachs 1989 Plant Cell
1:793, 1991 Mol Gen Genet 229:219). Molecular clone (Russell and Sachs 1989
Plant Cell 1:793). High homology to Gpc1 in protein coding region.
umc203(gpc2)(cDNA pGAPC2). This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database
and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
