ID 1695
Name afd1 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (1) absence of first division1
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200019
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Male and female sterility; failure of synapsis, anaphase I equatorial. Meiotic
first (reduction) division replaced by a single mitotic (equational) division.
At pachytene, chromosomes are tightly associated with the nucleolus and
unpaired, although some synaptonemal complex is formed. A diakinesis-like stage
with 20 univalents follows with univalents separating equationally. Epistatic to
dsy1, as1, and dv1. Uncovered by TB-6Lc. Genetic 2005 6 coordinates determined
from these recombination and map data: TB-6Lc afd1; (umc38a [afd1?] umc62
(=~agp2) umc28 umc134a csu68a); see MaizeGDB ID:935811; 935812. This gene was
originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on
the maize bins map if feasible.
