GRAMENE GENEGR:0200665
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description cDNA clone (cultivar Berkeley Fast); continuous anaerobic accumulation of mRNA
through 72 h. pZmL1005 (wusl1005) mapped in the TCM RI lines (no polymorphism
found in CoTx) near bnl6.22. ~1400 bases in length (some tissues and some lines
also see 1700 base trascript). DNA sequence reveals 3 possible ORFs, one of
which has homology in the N-terminus to the meristem protein encoded by the meri-
5 gene of Arabidopsis. It also has homology to a soybean seedling gene regulated
by brassinosteroids (Zurek and Clouse, 1994 Plant Physiol 104: 161-170), and
xyloglucan endo-transglycosylase from nasturtium as well as an Arabidopsis gene,
TCH4, induced by mechanical stress. Hybrid select translation gives a
polypeptide ~32 kD. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and
the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
