GRAMENE GENEGR:0200079
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Electrophoretic mobility; cytosolic/glyoxysomal; tetrameric; intra/interlocus
hybrid bands occur. Response to cercosporin toxin (Williamson & Scandalios
1992 Plant J). Transcript highest in scutellum and silks; also accumulates in
husk, cob and developing kernels. Encodes predominant catalase in established
tissue cultures (Racchi 1993). Transcript levels increase in young leaves in
response to hydrogen peroxide, and to osmotic stress via two pathways: ABA-
dependent and ABA-independent (Guan et al. 2000 Plant J). This gene was
originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on
the maize bins map if feasible.
