nuclear gene family; contary to preceding notes, Rastogi et. al., 1998 Plant
Cell Phyol. 39:443-446, observed gln2 trancripts primarily in the pedicels but
at undetectable levels in roots (TM). Induction by nitrate is moderate. Highest
mRNA levels in root cortex, root tip, little or no accumulation in leaf blade,
young cob, embryo, pollen, root vascular cylinder, seedling shoot and stem. This
gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was
displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
