ID 1126
Name st1 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (1) sticky chromosome1
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200510
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Small plant, striate leaves, pitted kernels resulting from sticky chromosomes;
st1-e heightened by high temperature. Scattered seed set. Partially egg-sterile.
and usually completely pollen-sterile. Meiotic divisions very irregular.
Classification by striate leaves usually good in all stages, by pollen sterility
good. Does not appear to condition maize histone alterations that can be
detected electrophoretically (Stout and Phillips 1973). Genetic 2005 4
coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: st1 -12- su1; see
MaizeGDB ID:935379. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and
the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
