Description Like vp2. Abscisic acid and carotenoid deficient; white endosperm and white
seedlings. Mutant affects subunit B of phytoene 11-12 desaturase; accumulates
phytoene and is xanthophyll and abscisic acid deficient. Pale yellow kernels in
some backgrounds appear to be due to unidentified flavonoid pigment. (J.D.
Smith, D. Robertson). Genetic 2005 1 coordinates determined from these
recombination and map data: poss ident pds1; loc w/php20640; T1-2c -1- sr1 -1-
vp5; see MaizeGDB ID:59953; 214186. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB
