Accession GR:0200349
Gene Symbol ms2
Gene Name male sterile2

E.C. Numbers (0)
Pathway Reactions (0)
Chromosome No. 9
Gene Type Not classified
Has Phenotype not curated
Description Like ms1; affected between vacuolation and pore formation. Anthers fail to exsert, microspores degenerate. Meiosis I and II appear normal, although occasional micronuclei have been observed. After quartet release, microspore vacuolation occurs without concomitant wall and pore development. No remnants of the thin-walled, vacuolated microspores remain after microspore degeneration. (M. Albertsen). Genetic 2005 9 coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: wx1 -3- d3 -3- ms2; TB-9Lc pg12 ar1 v1 ms2; (ar1 -0- ms2); wx1 -10- pg12 -1- ms2; wx1 -17- ms2 -2- gl15; see MaizeGDB ID:935671; 301256; 935564; 935669; 935672. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
