Accession GR:0060891_2
Allele Symbol shr1.2 (shr1-a)
Allele Name shrunken eudosperm-1
Synonyms (0)
Allele Description For shr1.2 mutants, glassy type and floury type of shrunken endosperm mutants differed slightly from sugary and shrunken mutants. The kernel of glassy type was shrunken and light brown or amber. Inner part of starch layer is not stained by I2-KI, but outer part stains weakly. Endosperm was very peculiar with narrow rectangular cells that were clustered in the central part and unstained by I2-KI. No compound starch granules were observed. Same endosperm structure was observed in sugary-1 mutant of maize. Endosperm of floury type of wrinkled mutants was also shrunken, but white in color, stained blue-black by I2-KI like nonwaxy rice, cells were filled with round, compound starch granules and large number of small, round granules.
