Comment | The AMT3 belongs to ammonium transporter family of proteins, containing 11 putative transmembrane-spanning domains. Heterologous expression of AMT3 in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae mutant 31019b showed that the encoded protein exhibits ammonium transport activity. RT_PCR analysis showed expression in roots. The expression was repressed by the application of nitrogen (more by nitrate compared to ammonium). It has two closest rice homologs namely, AMT2 (Q947N0) and OsAMT1 (Q947N1). |
