Has Phenotype not curated
Description The gene encodes for enzyme phenylalanine ammonia lyase, which participates in the Phenylpropanoid pathway.
Curator Comment This gene was wrongly annotated to sequenced gene LOC_Os02g41680. The curational error was due to the author statement (Zhou et al. 1995) where they mentioned determining the nucleotide sequence of one PAL gene, ZB8. The gene isolated by the authors (GenBank accession X87946) maps to the chromosome-2 of rice compared to the ZB8 which maps to chromosome-5. According to our analysis ZB8 is member of a multigene family in rice and maps to sequenced gene locus LOC_Os05g35290.
