Comment The gene encodes a putative heme oxygenase and is a homologue of hy1 or HO1 gene (At2g26670) in Arabidopsis. In the rice plant with mutant allele, the lack of responses of coleoptile elongation by light pulses and photoreversible phytochromes indicates that Se5 may function in phytochrome chromophore biosynthesis. The phenotype shows very early heading and flowering stages due to the loss of photoperiod sensitivity. It is earlier than the original cultivar Norin 8 under natural long-day (LD) by 15 days.
Earliness due to the loss of photoperiod sensitivity. Earlier than the original cultivar Norin 8 under natural long-day by 15 days. (Imported from Gene GR:0060864)
